The Cyborg Edition of Rick Gardiner

THE TIME IS NEAR!!! I've titled the collection of short songs I'm making, Zapper. You probably noticed the incredibly high-tech album art above. I'm hoping to get like 50 songs on it. An hour of complete horror sounds like a great idea to me. Here's one of my faves so far.

The past few days have been jammed with game programming. It's been too long, and I've put way too much dedication towards game programming, and I have nothing to show for it. I want to prove to myself that I really can make any game that I think of, into a reality. I've always just tried to dive straight into making a big game.

A long time ago, I used to pump out a variety of things with Game Maker. Most of it's features were above my head at the time, but my drive to make games was too big. I made "RPG"s using sprites from other games. Ever since learning C++, I've been driven to make an MMO or something huge. I finally figured out, it's time to go old s...

What a horrible life I have. Here's two new songs.

Horrible recording quality? CHECK. Horrible mixing? CHECK. Complete lack of care for the previous checklist items? CHECK.

Okay maybe I care a little. A few days ago I ordered a replacement cable for my headphones on eBay. Right now I'm working off of my laptop speakers, so there's not much bass. That's why there's too much bass on your speakers.

I want to make a bunch of 30 second to a minute songs, maybe like 50. They're the most fun to make. Soundcloud has a limit of 3 sets though, which I use to organize albums. I COULD pay some money and break that limit. Even if no one else ever hears my music, I'd still love to have it all on a site, nicely organized.

In gaming news, there's a new Kickstarter project for this open source console called OUY...

Why hello there! The past few weeks have been a little hectic. I've went through a few phases of being diurnal to crepuscular to nocturnal back to diurnal. I'll thank the caffeine and deadlines for that.

The site I'm working on for work is almost ready for it's Alpha phase. It's a little scary because I have no idea who will be testing it, and how badly they'll burn me on everything. I've only ever had my bosses look at and use my code, so having strangers trying to use it like a realy web app is intimidating. I'll post the site up here once it's publically released, glad to finally have something to put in my projects!

There's a secret subdomain on this site too. I'm working on some tools that'll help coders. Right now there's a Matrix/Vector calculator ready, and I'm working on a CSS from HTML extractor thing. I'll post it after it fills up a little more.

In the game dev part of my life, I've starting lurking on #GameDev again. I forgot how enjoyable IRC is. There was...

Well it's been over a month since I've made a post. Luckily, that means there's actual stuff to talk about.

I recently got a job. It's been sweet so far. It's some web development for a Kindle book site. Not gonna get too in detail, I'll post a link in my Projects whenever it's up and going (if my boss is okay with that). Everything is better when you're getting paid! How capitalist of me.

Just to touch on some productive stuff, before getting into my descriptions of wasted time; I recently just got this apartment to myself. That means good things for music recordings. I'm gonna set up a studio/office in my roomates' old room sometime this week, and hopefully get Sci-Fry a good recording.

Also, just started a new game, based on an old idea I had. More news of that as things progess.

What's been eating a lot of my time lately: DIABLO 3. OBVIOUSLY. I'm playing a Barb mostly, got to level 60 a couple days ago. It's surprising how similar the class is to WoW's Warrior class. I actuall...

Sometimes Peggle is just the worst.
Sometimes Peggle is just the worst.

So, I decided to do that comic at the start of this post. I honestly don't even think it's that funny, I was just really bored, and mad at Peggle. It's one of those "serious truth" comics.

My wallet is getting kind of empty, so I have to spend the rest of the week being enslaved by freelancing. I really enjoy being able to make a few bucks without even leaving my bed. The last few projects I did went well, but it's mostly been just fixes, or small sites. Getting a job for making a full API would be the coolest thing ever right now, JUST SAYIN'.

There's also a bunch of work I have to do on this site still. So far it's been a huge roadblock not having a portfolioish site done. As a web developer, that is pretty much constitutes first 57 unforgivable sins. Now there's really only one big thing left to do, and that's styling the Projects page, and filling it up.

I finally got over...
